Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 25th August had forward 1810 prime and cast sheep.
1334 prime lambs sold to average 207.66 (SQQ 207.69).
All classes were easily sold and slightly sharper on the week.
Top today was £111 x 2 firstly from Messrs Clement, Borgue House, Borgue for Texels and also from Messrs Nicolson, Bombie, Kirkcudbright. Top per kilo was 265.8 for cracking Beltex lambs from Messrs Adams, Torhousekie, Wigtown.
476 cast sheep were sharper than last week selling to £137 for Texels from High Borgue. Scotch Mules sold to a top of £95.50 from Low Arkland with Blackface ewes to £69 from the Muil.
Buyers are asking that care be taken to select lambs that are full of flesh as this will help the trade going forward in to the Autumn, and also with the recent weather if any lambs are dirty can they please be tidied up before presenting them for sale.
