Wallets Marts Weekly Primestock Report Tuesday 6th April 2021

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 6^th April 2021 had some 822 prime and cast sheep forward.

709 Prime hoggs sold to average 303.6 ppk achieving an SQQ of 306.1. A smaller show of hoggs were were sold to the dearest trade ever seen, for all weights, topping at 341.1 pence per kilo for a pen of Cheviots from Messrs Jamieson, Garrochtrie. Top per head was £192 for a pen of heavy Texels from Messrs Hiddleston, Rigghead.

A smaller show of 112 cast sheep were an unbelievable trade and averaged £140 with the old record of £200 being smashed, first from Messrs Hendry, Rascarrel, topping the sale with a Texel ewe at £211 and again from Denty Texels, with a ewe at £210. Scotch Mules sold to £146.50 from Messrs Brown, Little Culmain. Blackfaces sold to £109 from Messrs Hiddleston, Wellhill.
