Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 15^th June 2021 had forward 860 prime and cast sheep.

664 Prime lambs sold to average 290.91 (SQQ 291.62).

A nice show of lambs averaged £123.95 which is a massive £31.45 and 70ppk ahead of the corresponding day last year. Topping today was £155 for heavy Texels from Messrs Millar, Balannan with top per kilo being 327.9 from Gelston Castle farms, Castle Douglas for smart Beltex lambs.

Hoggs sold to £107 for Texels from Knockvennie Smiddy and to 206.3ppk for Texels from Dornells Estate.

Cast sheep were forward in fewer numbers and looked sharper to a top of £141 for Beltex Rams from 2 Kirkconnel Cottage with ewes to £131 for Suffolks from Meikle Kirkland.
