1528 prime hoggs sold to average 241.3 (SQQ 242) Export weight and heavy hoggs were noticeably sharper on the week with only the very best lightweight hoggs maintaining last weeks trade, with the rest slightly less.
Top today was £140 for outstanding Texel hoggs from Denty Texels, Castle douglas. Top per kilo was 305.3 for Beltex from Messrs Hird, Whitecroft, Dalbeattie.
Export weight Blackface hoggs were a flyer selling to 258.8 for a pen from Barlure Farmers, New Luce, who also topped per head at £114. Overall 597 Blackface sold to average 239.6 with 307 scaling over 39.1 averaging a staggering 250.22.
Cast ewes again sold to extreme rates with what is believed to be a Centre record, a Texel ewe from Denty Texel fetching £200. Mules sold to £122.50 from High Glasnick with Blackface selling to £106.50 from Drumbreddan.
