OTM CATTLE AND STORE LAMBS

 

A small show of cows met an absolute flying trade with a top of 169p for a charolais from Straith Estate and to £1095 from March & Lobban.  The consignment from Straith averaged 161.3p and £1011 for 6.

Store Lambs again met a animated demand.  Topping today was texels from Copelaw at £82 with suffolks to £79 from Glentoo with texels from the same home at £78.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE

 

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 17th December had forward 2205 prime and cast sheep.

 

1845 prime lambs sold to average 200.98 SQQ 205.58.  All classes were sharper on the week with the sale getting sharper as the day went on with many more being required to meet demand.

 

Top today was £116 for a pen of cracking beltex lambs from Gelston Castle Farms, Castle Douglas who also topped the ppk at 275, top heavy lambs was £112 for texel lambs from Messrs Veitch, Low Creoch, Gatehouse of Fleet.

 

340 cast sheep were sharper again selling to £135 for texels from Copelaw, rams sold to £114.50 for beltex from Lagganpark and blackface ewes met the dearest trade of the season with 5 pens realising over £70 to a top of £75.50 from Lagganpark.
