STORE CATTLE & OTM CATTLE
A grand show of 1218 store cattle met a fabulous trade with bullocks selling to £1490 for a pen of Limousins from Mains of Larg, New Luce and 324.4 for a pair of Simmentals from Messrs Thomson, East Altercannoch, Barrhill. Heifers sold to £1400 for a Limousin from Mains of Larg, New Luce and to 296 ppk for a Limousin from Messrs Allison, Ring of Barfad, Kirkcowan.
59 OTM Cattle were dearer again, with cows selling to 229 ppk for a Limousin cow from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland and to £1498 for a Shorthorn cow from Messrs Young & Son, Knocksheen, Dalry. OTM Heifers sold to 247 ppk for a Limousin heifer from Gelston Castle Farms.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 27th April 2021 had 555 prime and cast sheep forward.
361 Prime hoggs sold to average 250.0 ppk achieving an SQQ of 252.0. A smaller show of hoggs were a plainer show for quality and less on last week’s extreme rates, topping at 317.4 pence per kilo for a Beltex hogg from Messrs Milroy, Mains of Machermore. Top per head was £142.50 for a pen of heavy Texels from Messrs Craig, Compstonend.
A smaller show of 194 cast sheep were a great trade and up on the week, topping the sale was a Texel ewe at £189 from Messrs Milroy, Mains of Machermore. Scotch Mules sold to £116.50 from Palmallet Farms, Whithorn. Blackfaces sold to £97 from Messrs Watson, High Borgue.
