OTM CATTLE AND STORE LAMBS
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 6th January 2020 held their first sale of cast cows and Store hoggs.
A small show of cows were short of requirements and were a fine show for quality averaging 120.2ppk topping at 129ppk for a Saler from Cairnhouse. Salers also topped the pounds per head at £1086.12 from High Ersock.
A tremendous show of 1518 store hoggs sold to a large ringside of buyers and met prices not seen in recent years with pen after pen selling between £80 – £90, topping at £96 for Texels from Messrs Kerr, Fagra, Dundrennan. More are required in a fortnight to meet the demand. If you still have hoggs to sell please get in touch.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 7th January 2020 had forward 2037 prime and cast sheep.
1689 prime hoggs sold to average 206.5 (SQQ 208.02). All classes were a grand trade and easily maintaining last weeks rate.
Top today was £111 for cracking heavy texels from Douganhill Farms, Castle Douglas with plenty other heavy lambs from £100 – £110. Top per kilo export lambs was 238.3 for beltex from Messrs Sturgess, Cullinaw.
348 cast sheep were a flyer selling to £147.50 for texels from Low Arkland with Rams selling to £129.50 for beltex from Dornells Estate.
