STORE HOGGS, STORE CATTLE & OTM CATTLE
A great show of store cattle met another strong trade with bullocks averaging a whopping 246.5 ppk and heifers 236.6 ppk. Bullocks sold to 305.6 from Gelston Castle Farms and £1550 from Messrs Sharp & Son, Barscarrow. Heifers sold to 273.5 from Messrs Wilson, West Barmoffity and to £1450 from Messrs Mitchell, Little Larg.
OTM Cattle were dearer again, with cows selling to 195 ppk from Lochside Ltd, Gatehouse of Fleet and OTM Heifers selling to 207 ppk from Messrs Graham, Irelandton. OTM Bulls also saw a great trade, selling to 262.0 ppk and £2384.20 from Messrs Adams & Son, Torhousekie.
134 Store sheep were as dear as seen this season, topping at £128 for a great pen of Texel lambs from Messrs Bryson, Boreland of Parton.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 16th March 2021 had some 1106 prime and cast sheep forward.
785 Prime hoggs sold to average 275.0 ppk (SQQ 274.7). A smaller end of season show of hoggs were easily cashed. These topped at 306.8 pence per kilo for a pen of Cheviots from Messrs Graham, Irelandton. Top per head was £163.50 for a pen of heavy Texels from Messrs Wilson, West Barmoffity.
A smaller show of 221 cast ewes were the dearest of the season with Gelston Castle Farms topping the sale with a pen of Texel ewes at £159.50. Scotch Mules sold to £119 from Messrs Brown & Co, Little Culmain, Crocketford and again from Messrs Lockhart, Culdoach. Blackfaces sold to £83.50 from Messrs Ramsay, Milnmark, Dalry.
