OTM AND STORE CATTLE AND STORE LAMBS

 

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 16 March 2020 had forward 560 OTM and Store cattle.

 

A super show of 535 Store cattle were forward to a large ringside of buyers.

 

Top today was £1250 for a sweet Limousin heifer from Jim and Danny Mitchell, Little Larg, New Luce, with top per kilo being a pen of Charolais heifers from Alistair Davidson, Poldean, Moffat.

 

Topping the bullocks was a pen of nine Simmental bullocks at £1200 from Hamish Black, Hillside, Corsock with a pen of Charolais bullocks from Poldean again topping the ppk at 287.8.

 

25 Cast cows were a sound trade again and being short of requirements selling to £1249.44 for an Angus Cow from Trolane, Dalry and topping at 158ppk for a Luing cow from Crofts, Kirkpatrick Durham.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE

 

 

1239 prime hoggs were forward to average 250.4 with an SQQ of 252.55 The trade of the season so far was had with well fleshed hoggs realising tremendous returns and leaner hoggs although not as sharp still looking a great trade. Top today was £154 for outstanding heavy texels from Douganhill Farms Palnackie with top per kilo being 312.2 for beltex hoggs from RVCM Agri Airyolland Port William. Blackface hoggs were a flyer for export types especially topping at £118.50 from Messrs Guild Ashmark New Cumnock. Topping the ppk was a pen of 46 from Messrs Ramsay Ardoch Dalry at 278.2

 

376 cast sheep were off the clock and reached heights never seen before, selling to £181 for texel rams from Breckoniehill with ewes topping at £175 for suffolks from Meikle Kirkland mule ewes sold to £155 from Kelloside with Blackface ewes selling to £120 from Birchwood Way
