STORE HOGGS, STORE CATTLE & OTM CATTLE
A great show of store cattle met a cracking trade with bullocks averaging a whopping 242 ppk and heifers 230 ppk. Bullocks sold to 299.6 from Messrs Templeton of Ardachie and £1360 from Margrie Ltd, Ardwall. Heifers sold to 274.4 from Messrs Mair, Bargatton and to £1275 from Messrs Roan, Barnbarroch.
OTM Cattle were dearer again, with cows selling to 177 ppk from Messrs Lindsay & Co, Culnaightrie and OTM Heifers selling to 223 ppk from Messrs Maxwell & Son, Halket Leathes.
669 Store sheep were as dear as seen this season, topping at £132 for a great pen of Texel lambs from Kirkconnel Cottage.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 2nd March 2021 had some 2007 prime and cast sheep forward.
1579 Prime hoggs sold to average 280.5 ppk (SQQ 283.36). A good show of hoggs were sold to the dearest trade this season with more needed each week to satisfy demand. These topped at 390.0 pence per kilo and £156 for a pen of Beltex from Messrs McConnell, Gass, Glenluce.
An outstanding show of 863 Blackface hoggs were forward, with 450 hoggs scaling over 39 kg averaging 280.5 ppk and 413 hoggs under 39 kg averaging 279.4 ppk. They topped overall at £135.50 for a pen of heavyweights from Messrs McMicking, Miltonise, Glenwhilly with the same home topping the export weights at 291 ppk. With a pen of light weights from Messrs Ramsay, Knockreoch, Dalry, topping their section at 290.3 ppk.
485 Cast ewes were also the dearest of the season with Messrs Brown, Little Culmain, Crocketford topping with a Texel ewe at £153 with Scotch Mules selling to £110.50 from Messrs Hair & Brewis, Drumbreddan, Ardwell. Blackfaces sold to £90 from Messrs Brown of Drumhumphry, Corsock. Topping the sale however, was Texel rams twice at £157 from Messrs Gibson, Heavyside, Broughton and Messrs W & J Young, South Quintinespie, Laurieston.
