STORE LAMBS, STORE & OTM CATTLE AND BREEDING SHEEP
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 25th October sold 1529 Store lambs, 150 Store and OTM Cattle and 40 breeding sheep. Annual sale of 40 Blackface tups and all other breeds.
Bullocks topped at £1280 for Limousins from Messrs Sommerville, Larglea and 251.4ppk from Dr W J Locke, Park of Tonglad. Heifers topped at £1110 for Simmentals from Messrs Hamilton, Newton and 262ppk from Straith Estates.
OTM cattle sold to £1354.68 for Simmentals from Douganhill Farms and 179 for Limousins from Messrs Robb, Barskeoch.
Store lambs topped at £110 for Suffolks from Messrs Somerville, Waterhead and were the dearest seen all season and well short of requirements with more needed in a fortnights time.
Blackface tups sold at £650 from Messrs Hannah, High Balyett. £750 for Texels from W & J Young, South Quintinespie.
