STORE CATTLE AND OTM CATTLE

 

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 5 July 2021 held their fortnightly sale of OTM and store cattle.

 

Top today was £1180 for Angus bullocks from Graplin Farms and 241.8ppk again from Graplin Farms.  Heifers sold to £1150 from Messrs Taylor, Galdenoch and 233.3 again from Little Galdenoch.

 

OTM cattle were a tremendous trade and were as dear as has been seen this year, selling to £1690.54 for a Simmental cow from Messrs Lindsay, Culnaightrie, which was part of a tremendous consignment of cast cows from Culnaightrie which sold to average 184.2ppk

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK SALE

 

Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Tuesday 6th July 2021 had forward 1478 prime and cast sheep.

 

1168 Prime lambs sold to average 254.73 (SQQ 255.11).

 

All classes of lambs were a flying trade and selling to the largest ringside of buyers in Southwest Scotland.  With seven buyers in attendance more lambs will be required going forward, with demand for all weights and classes catered for.

 

Top today was £142.50 for heavyweight Texel lambs from Messrs Hogan, Maryholm, Dumfries, with top per kilo being for Beltex lambs from Messrs Jardine, Upper Hardland, Balmaclellan at 325ppk

 

Cast sheep were forward in larger numbers and readily sold in the lead up to the Festival of Eid-al-Adha.  Top today was £145 for Texels from Messrs Sproat, Lennox Plunton with Scotch Mules to £117 from Ashfield and Blackface to £87 from Upper Hardland.
