Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Limited on Monday 18th January 2021 had forward 181 OTM and Store and Breeding Cattle
116 Store cattle were a flyer and well short of requirements with several buyers leaving empty handed. Leading todays sale was £1300 for a pen of Limousin bullocks from Messrs Sharp & Son, Barscarrow, Sandhead. Leading the heifers was an Angus heifer at £1170 from Messrs Borland, Castlehill. Leading the pence per kilo, was a pen of Shorthorn cross bullocks at 274.80 from Messrs Milby, Ringour.
45 Cast cows sold to £1386 for an Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Hair & Brewis, Drumbreddan and 187ppk for a cow of the same breed from Messrs Black & Son, Hillside (Crofts).
A dispersal of 20, in-calf stock cows from Messrs Taylor, Edingham, Dalbeattie, sold to £1750 for a cracking 7-year-old, Limousin.
A smaller show of 592 store hoggs to continue this seasons Monday sales were a flyer again topping at £128 for a pair of Beltex hoggs from Messrs Murdoch, Fauld O’Wheat with Texels to £120 for a pen of 12 from Messrs Bryson, Boreland of Parton.

WEEKLY PRIMESTOCK
Wallets Marts Castle Douglas Ltd on Tuesday 19th January 2021 had some 2273 prime and cast sheep forward.
1947 Prime hoggs sold to average 247.1ppk (SQQ 249.6). Best bred export hoggs were a great trade and similar on the week with well fleshed hoggs of all weights easily sold although all classes less money than last week’s flyer which was seen around the country yesterday. Top price of the day was £133 for a tremendous Beltex hogg from Messrs McConnel, Gass, Glenluce, with Messrs Milroy, Mains of Machermore topping the pence per kilo at 347.2 for another pen of Beltex hoggs. Heavy weights sold to £126.50 for Texels and Suffolks from Messrs McLeish, West Skelston. 537 Blackface hoggs sold to average 245.7ppk, these topped at £111.50 for a pen of 45.7kg from Messrs Ramsay, Milnmark. With a pen of lightweights from the same home topping the ppk at 259.2.
326 Cast ewes were sharper again with Messrs Haining, High Drum, Dunscore, topping with a Suffolk ewe at £129. Scotch Mules sold to £92 from Barbush, Troqueer and Blackfaces to £83.50 from Hair & Brewis of Drumbreddan.
