Webinars Offer Steps To Building A New Business

A webinar series has been designed to direct agricultural businesses through the journey of a new start.

The summer series of webinars has been organised by SAC Consulting – part of Scotland’s Rural College, on behalf of the Farm Advisory Service.

They will cover everything from sourcing finance and buying farmland to building relationships and tackling climate change.

Climate change expert Frank M Mitloehner, a Professor and Air Quality Specialist from the University of California, will talk about the cow carbon cycle and the role livestock plays in the challenge of nourishing a growing global population.

Other speakers include Andrew Marchant, an  award-winning New Entrant, who will talk about the relationships he has developed building and running Clonhie with his wife Aileen, and Alistair Christie, a partner at Galbraiths, who has a wealth of experience in the sale and purchase of farmland.

Kirsten Williams, Sheep and Beef Consultant at SAC Consulting, said: “We have designed this series of summer webinars to replace face-to-face meetings due to Covid-19 restrictions.
“It will take people who are starting a new venture on a journey from sourcing finance and acquiring land, to building relationships, resilient systems and implementing changes for climate change.
“These webinars will be applicable to new and existing farmers across Scotland.”

The webinars have been designed as a series, but participants can also tune into specific events of interest to them.

The live hour-long webinars will be held every Wednesday from 17 June to 5 August, between 8pm-9pm. While live attendance is encouraged, recordings will be available online after the event.
