11-2 Victory Against Stewarton Sees Queens Ladies Sitting 3rd

On Sunday, Queens Ladies took on Stewarton Ladies in a league game, with Queens keen to take three points to keep them hot on the heels of current league leaders Harmony Row.

Queens started  well and were three goals ahead within the first nine minutes through Alexandra Connon, Jordyn Gallagher & Holly Ovens. Despite the scoreline, Stewarton were still posing a threat and they pulled a goal back in the 21st minute.  Queens stepped up the pace and restored their three goal lead in the 23rd minute through Emily Morton, who later suffered a broken ankle in a tussle with a Stewarton midfielder.  Alexandra Connon got her own second goal and Queens’ fifth in the 27th minute.  Stewarton pulled another goal back after 32 minutes, but again Queens pulled further ahead with two goals from Hayley Crosbie either side of one from Sara Thomson making the half time score 8-2 to Queens.

The second half was slightly less prolific, with some determined defending by Stewarton reducing Queens’ scoring rate.  A further three goals against a tiring Stewarton team, one a powerful header from centre back Leona Smith and the others two fierce shots from about 30 yards from Hayley Crosbie, rounded off the scoring.

Final score Queens 11  Stewarton 2, delighting the watching crowd of  around 30 Queens supporters and three Cockapoos.
