Annandale and Eskdale Primary Basketball Competition
The Annandale and Eskdale Primary Schools Basketball Competition took place at Lockerbie Academy last Tuesday night . The event which is part of the primary schools PEPAS sporting calendar attracted ten teams to the competition.
After two hours of very competitive but sportsmanship like round robin leagues fixtures, Newington Warriors defeated Newington Wildcats in the final with Brydekirk Braves coming third.
The prizes were presented by Fiona Latimer, on behalf of sponsors Magnox Limited as part of their sports partnership agreement which sponsors the PEPAS sporting event calendar.
Councillor Ronnie Ogilvie, Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee Chairman said: “It is good to see so many schools, volunteers and young leaders coming together to deliver what turned out to be an excellent afternoon of basketball.”
Site Director, John Grierson from Chapelcross on behalf of Magnox Limited added: “it is fantastic to see children being offered these opportunities to compete against other schools. The range of
competitions is a natural progression from all the opportunities they have to try the various sports in schools”
