Nominations Sought For Annandale & Eskdale Sports Awards

The Annandale & Eskdale Sports Awards for the sporting year 2019 are being organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council and nominations in 9 categories are being invited.

Do you know of any of schools, teams or individuals who deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment to local sport or outstanding success in their sport during 2019? If so, anyone wishing to put forward a school, team, individual or young person in the new Year of Young People Award are invited to submit a nomination form for one or more of the following categories: –

 Sports Personality of the Year Award, sponsored by Andersons Joinery
 Young Sports Personality of the Year Award
 Sports Team of the Year Award, sponsored by Rostrum Sportswear
 Coach of the Year Award, sponsored by Gretna Gateway
 Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by Annan Travel
 Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Ashleybank Investments
 Small School Sport Initiative or Performance of the Year Award
 Large School Sport Initiative or Performance of the Year Award, sponsored by Dumfries and Galloway Standard
 Year of Young People Award sponsored by Magnox Limited

Chair of Annandale and Eskdale Area committee, Councillor Stephen Thomson, said “Dumfries and Galloway Council recognises the importance of everyone participating in local sport, whether as a competitor, a coach, a teacher, event organiser, an official, or as the volunteer doing the work behind the scenes to keep our local clubs functioning. Now is your chance to submit your nominations for the 2019 Annandale and Eskdale Annual Sports Awards.”

Vice Chair, Councillor Adam Wilson, said: “Increased participation brings with it more teaching, more coaching, more volunteering, more competition and higher levels of performance. Now is your chance to recognise those who have made a significant contribution to sport in Annandale and Eskdale in 2019 or over a longer period.”

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Dumfries and Galloway Council website or obtained by e-mailing [email protected]

Completed nomination forms should be returned no later than 5pm on Monday 3 February 2020.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday 27 March 2020 at the Buccleuch Centre, Langholm.
