Do you coach a football team? Do you play football and want to improve your first touch or dribbling technique? Are the demands of 11-a-side football too much for the legs now? Are you free 6-9pm on Tuesday 3 May?
If the answer is ‘Yes’ to any of these questions, then the Futsal Workshop being held on Tuesday 3 May might be of interest to you!
Held at Dumfries and Galloway College on Tuesday 3 May, the 3 hour workshop will be a practical based insight into the world of Futsal. The session will be taken by Garry Hay, an ex-professional footballer who is now a Player and Coach Development Manager for the Scottish FA. Garry will take you through the rules and format of futsal, and demonstrate numerous training drills that can help hone your skills in the futsal area, as well as on the football pitch.
The workshop is aimed at anyone who has an interest in playing futsal, as well as any current coaches and officials who’d like to learn something new. The small-sided, highly skilled game is played indoors with a smaller, heavier ball and encourages players to be more assured and skilled in their control of the ball. Our Council is looking to start a Futsal league later in the year if there is sufficient interest, and this workshop is your chance to find out if Futsal is for you.
This workshop is Free but places must be booked in advance. To book a slot go to – https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/dgfutsal Councillor Tom McAughtrie, who is Chairman of the Council’s Community and Customer Services Committee said of the workshop;
“This is a great opportunity for boys, girls, men and women to go along to a session led by a top quality coach and see if it is something that interests them. Futsal is a highly skilled game but is also something that can be enjoyed with your pals, workmates or family as an alternative to football. It is also a great way of keeping fit and helping relieve stress and is a great means of improving your wellbeing.
It is very popular on the continent, and the way teams like Spain, Brazil and France play with such flair is perhaps testimony to their love of Futsal. Who knows, we may even find a Messi or a Neymar right here in Dumfries!”
