Wee Bash Women Win on the Road

The Dumfries Women’s soft ball cricket team was on the road again on Sunday. This time the side was at another enjoyable Wee Bash tournament which was hosted by Drumpellier Cricket Club in Coatbridge. They won three games and lost one to East Kilbride with other teams from Uddingston, Clydesdale and the SEMSA Sports Association. Clare Holden picked up a Cricket Scotland Player of the Match trophy by being top scorer and Bethan Cubbon batted well with plenty of boundaries. The side have another Wee Bash tournament at Gatehouse on Sunday. New participants are very welcome and can contact the club via [email protected] .

Dumfries Under-11s compete at Carlisle

Dumfries under 11s travelled away to Carlisle in the league on a sunny Sunday morning. Carlisle under-11s batted first and put a very competitive score on the board. In reply Dumfries batted well in stages but were beaten by a more experienced Carlisle side. The Dumfries highlights included Lachlan Osmond’s 3 consecutive boundaries to finish the batting innings and Archie Coltart’s caught and bowled. The James Hallam Player of the Day went to Angus Pickstock for his bowling and batting efforts and a direct hit run out. The Dumfries side are looking forward to their next game which is in the second round of the knockout Cup.
