Crossmichael net title in Stewartry schools netball league

Eight primary school teams from across the Stewartry have recently taken part in the 2015 Stewartry Netball league.

This event was held at Crossmichael Primary School and saw young netball stars test their skills in a 4 week league.

Teams from Lochrutton, Castle Douglas, Crossmichael, Twynholm, Dalbeattie (2 teams) Auchencairn and Kirkcudbright took part in the league organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council. The standard of netball from all teams was fantastic, with Crossmichael coming out as champions beating Twynholm in the final.

The awards were handed out by Councillors Tom McAughtrie and John Martin. Councillor Tom McAughtrie, Chair of Community and Customer services said;

“It was great to see so many youngsters take part in The Stewartry Netball league, the fixtures were played in great spirit and there was some excellent games.  Congratulations to Crossmichael Primary who lifted the league title this year.  Events like this help our Council to work towards our key priorities, namely providing the best start in life for our children.”

Dumfries and Galloway Council would like to thank all volunteers who helped throughout the league.
