‘D&G BLOOD BIKES’ ANNOUNCED AS CHARITY PARTNER FOR NEW SEASON

Building Craftsmen Dumfries-sponsored Solway Sharks are pleased to announce that their charity partner for the 16/17 season will be Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes.

The Sharks are proud to be part of the Dumfries community and are delighted to be supporting D&G Blood Bikes this season.

There will be fundraising events throughout the year while the Sharks will proudly be wearing the DGBB logo on their jerseys at home and away games throughout the campaign.

Sharks were delighted to have one of the Blood Bikes along with volunteers from the organisation along to the Ice Bowl to launch the partnership.

Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes is a charitable organisation set up by local volunteers to deliver essential blood and urgent medical supplies, out of hours, between hospitals and healthcare sites in South West Scotland and sometimes beyond.

Outside normal office hours, the NHS relies on taxis or couriers to transfer urgent medical supplies or test samples between hospitals and other sites. Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes is dependent purely on charitable donations, and run entirely by volunteers who receive no compensation for their time or costs. The Blood Bike service is provided free of charge, ensuring the limited resources of the NHS can be used where it makes a difference.

BCD Solway Sharks begin their pre-season campaign this weekend with games v North Ayr on Saturday (6.30pm) and Paisley (5.30pm) before the Home Opener v Billingham Stars at the Ice Bowl on Saturday 10 September at 7pm.
