DOONHAMERS BOXING CLUB Welterweight Dennis Broadhurst looked very unlucky to only walk away with the silver after his final against the Ukraine’s Vitali Tereschuk at the weekend.
The Ukrainian attempted to steal points with a flicking jab but Dennis landed with powerful shots from both hands which had a noticeable effect on Tereschuk in the opener.
In the second Broadhurst again commanded the centre of the ring behind a strong jab and following rear hands and although Tereschuk limited the amount of shots landed in the last and maybe took the round Dennis suffered an agonising split decision loss to deny him gold.
Among many positives Dennis can take from the tournament is that his performance improved with every bout.
