Main Photo- Dumfries Baton Twirlers after attending The National Baton Twirling Championships 2015 in Crawley at the beginning of April.
The twirlers, some of which competed in up to 7 events over the weekend have returned with a huge collection of certificates, medals and trophies including 14 Individual National Champion titles and 1 overall Champion in their section (Eilidh Francis) who also picked up the Audrey O’Neil scholarship award for the 2nd year running.
The club also won 2 National Champion titles for teams. A tremendous effort from all 31 children who qualified from the club to take part.
Also pictured with the girls, is Lynda Kirkpatrick, who has recently retired after 22 years as club leader displaying her award from the recent Nithsdale Sports Awards for dedication to sport and Mairi Gordon who was a twirler for many years and is now a coach with the club was also awarded at the Sports awards as young female sports person of the year.
Fantastic month for the Twirlers and the hard work and dedication from all certainly pays off. They are continuing with their training in preparation for The British Open championships in May held in Nottingham. Good Luck 🙂
