Footy Festival Frenzy in Annandale and Eskdale

The Dumfries and Galloway Council Annandale and Eskdale Primary Schools Football Festival (sponsored by Magnox Limited) took place at Lockerbie 3G Pitch on Saturday 23 April.

Organised by our Council’s Active Schools and Community Sport Team, the new event on the primary schools sporting calendar attracted a number of teams from small rural schools as well as some of the larger primary schools in Annandale and Eskdale.

Following a round robin, Moffat Primary School came through six games unbeaten to lift the large school competition trophy. They beat Lockerbie Primary School 1-0 in a very tight game to pip them to the title.  Lockerbie finished runners up.

In the small school competition the partnership of Tundergarth and St Mungo came top of the league with the Carrutherstown and Cummertrees Primary School Partnership coming runners up.

Chairman of Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee, Councillor Ronnie Ogilvie said;

“It is good to see so many schools, volunteers and young leaders coming together to deliver an enjoyable morning of football.”

Richard Murray from Chapelcross on behalf of Magnox Limited who was there to hand out the trophies said;

“It is fantastic to see children being offered these opportunities of inter school competition and everyone had an enjoyable morning of football. We are delighted to sponsor the primary schools sporting calendar that offers so many opportunities.”
