Victory for Galloway Ladies at Indoor Cricket Tournament.

The second tournament of Cricket Scotland’s “Wee Bash” women’s six a side indoor series took place at The David Keswick Centre, Dumfries on Sunday 19th November. http://www.cricketscotland.com/the-wee-bash-starts-this-weekend/

Four teams took part from Stirling, Dumfries, Castle Douglas High School and Galloway. The Galloway team was captained by Natalie Hamblin with Louise Cumbley, Dawn Campbell, Ginger Ramsay, Pavlina Van Rooyen and Catriona Scobie.

The girls from Castle Douglas High school, coached by Galloway’s Dawn Campbell, were skippered by Laura Scobie and numbers were made up by 2 girls from Dumfries High School.

The first game was a lively encounter between CDHS and Dumfries. The CD girls put on a good performance especially considering several are newcomers to the game. First year Sophie Tulloch from CDHS, showed signs of promise in her bowling skills and the girls managed to win the game.  Next was a spirited game between old friends and rivals Stirling and Galloway. Despite the big hitting of Stirling’s Charlotte Dalton the Galloway ladies’ tight fielding and daring run-taking secured a victory.

The tournament continued in good spirits with each team playing 3 games. Galloway finished with three victories making them the overall winners. This is a credit to the leadership of Natalie Hamblin and the strong team spirit that has developed both on and off the field of play.

The CDHS girls put in a good performance with the strong partnership of Laura Scobie and Alex Livingston and a good effort from young players new to the game. Thanks to Stirling for travelling to Dumfries, and Dumfries Cricket Club who fielded a team of players old and new providing a fun day for all.
