Success for Dumfries Y Gymnasts at Regional Grades in Perth

Gymnasts from Dumfries Y Gymnastics Club’s 4-Piece Competitive squad attended the Regional Grades 1 – 4 competition in Perth last weekend.

All gymnasts successfully passed their Grades, with five gymnasts achieving Distinction and seven achieving Commended.

Head Coach, Steven McKinnel, said “It’s been a whirlwind 6 months since taking on the role of Head Coach at the Club and I am immensely proud of what we are achieving.
It’s great to see Dumfries Y gymnasts gaining results and placing in the top 6, but even more rewarding to see each and every gymnast improving, giving their personal best and progressing higher up the rankings.”

In the Regional Grade 1 competition Alisha McKinnel placed 7th= on Range and Conditioning.

In the Regional Grade 2 competition Sommer Dean placed 3rd on Beam, 7th= on Bars, 10th on Range and Conditioning and was awarded with a Ribbon for placing 4th overall. Morgan Todd placed 6th= on Vault and 9th overall.

In the Regional Grade 3 competition Ivanna Davis-Grierson placed 1st on Vault, 2nd on Bars, 10th= on Range and Conditioning and won Bronze for placing 2nd overall and Gemma Todd placed 5th on Beam.

In the Regional Grade 4 competition Marcie Gourlay placed 2nd on Beam and 10th= on Vault, Eilidh Ramsay placed 6th on Beam and 10th= on Vault and Hope Humphreys placed 10th= with her teammates on Vault.

Marice Gourlay 60.60 (Distinction), Eilidh Ramsay 60.55 (Distinction), Hope Humphreys 59.55 (Commended)

 

Gymnasts from the Boy’s and Girl’s Floor and Vault Squads and Development Squad will compete in the Dundonald Gymnastics Club Floor and Vault Competition next weekend and some of the gymnasts from the 4-Piece Development squad will travel to Perth the following week to compete in the Club Grade 5 & 6 competitions.

 

With now over 300 members, Dumfries Y Gymnastics Club has Competitive, Development and Floor and Vault competitive squads as well as gymnasts in Boys, Recreational, Fun4Baby and Pre-School classes and their recently added GymDance group.

 

The Club are looking forward to an exciting year ahead when the extension to their premises in English Street will begin.
