Junior Cricket: Dumfries U11s Win at Caldbeck

On Sunday Dumfries under 11s travelled to Caldbeck. Dumfries were put into bat and produced some nice boundary hitting from Angus Pickstock, Isaac Ishmael and Cory Dawson to reach a net score of 283 with four dismissals.

Defending what was a good total Sarah Cox opened the bowling and got Dumfries off to a good start taking a couple of early wickets. Gregor Martin on debut played well and was rewarded with his first ever wicket clean bowling one of their openers. Macey Byers once again impressed with both bat and ball bowling with some controlled swing. Cory Dawson relished his stint with the keeping gloves in getting two stumpings and a run out. The visiting Dumfries side came out winners by 69 runs in the end as the home side reached a net score of 214 with ten dismissals.

The sides’ sponsor James Hallam Insurance Player of the Day award went to Isaac Ishmael for his accurate bowling, elegant batting and debut stint with the keeping gloves at the end of the innings. Thanks to Caldbeck for lending a couple of fielders and being friendly hosts.

Dumfries look forward to welcoming Wigton under-11s this Sunday morning at Nunholm.
