KIERAN CONCHIE SHOWS HIS COMMITMENT TO KARTING

Home of Queen of the South FC  – Palmerston park, Dumfries swapped the noise of the football crowd for the roar of ‘Racing Karts’ on Sunday afternoon, as local 10 year old Junior Scottish karting champion Kieran Conchie showed his sponsors and local media what he can do when he gets behind the wheel.

Kieran and his family held the event which was organised for them by Roland Proudlock  at Palmerston on Sunday afternoon to thank all the people that have supported him through the start of his career in motorsport. With having won the Scottish championship in August Kieran is in line to become club champion at WSKC in Larkhall and CRKC in Rowrah. This will make him a triple champion in 2016 along with runner up in the National NKF Tour. Not only was the Heathhall Primary School pupil showing his skill on the track, but his trophy’s that he has won so far in his short career and how committed he is to the sport through his fitness training with Russell from Sporting Warriors .

The Conchie family give Kieran huge backing ( main Image) and this really showed at the event on Sunday, with all of the young race stars family there to support him, you could see his parents and sister all beaming with pride. But it’s not only his family and sponsors that show faith in this young man’s future on the race track, some of Scotland’s top young motor racing stars came along to the track side demonstration,  RossWylieRacing and Ciaran Haggerty Racing. Both Ross and Ciaran took part in a question and answer session with Kieran, which lead to a few blushes and awkward squirms when the 10 year old asked the  stars  ‘ Whats more Important, looking good on the track or off it?’ and ‘ Would they choose a Girlfriend or Racing first? ‘ .

Also  talking to the audience were Andy from Clan Racing , Keirans race team who down all the way from Dunoon for the afternoon . Andy took time out to chat to me about how proud he was of all the young people Clan Racing has supported over the years, he showed me lots of pictures on his mobile phone of them . Andy went on to say  Dumfries and Galloway really does seem to produce great racing drivers with the likes of racing stars including Alan Mcnish from Dumfries  and David Coulthard from Tywnholm, and now Ross Wylie from Thornhill.

With a race track constructed in the Palmerston car park, Kieran and 6 year old kart racer Ethan McNamee did some solo demo laps for the crowd, finishing off with a number of thrilling laps with both of them on the circuit. After the boys had finished up it was time for some photographs for the local media, and for some of the younger members of the audience to get a chance to sit in the seats of the racing karts.

Kieran Told DGWGO Sports News ” What an amazing fun filled day Sunday turned into for my event at Palmerston Park home of Queen of the South FC, Huge thanks to Billy and Victoria at the club for the use of the facility and refreshments.”
