YOUNG RACE ACE KIERAN CONCHIE SETS HIS SIGHTS ON UK CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER A GUTSY LARKHALL PERFORMANCE

9-year-old Heathhall Primary pupil, Kieran Conchie, was in action again at round 2 of the West of Scotland Karting Club Championship in Larkhall.

After a strong performance in the three qualifying heats, the 9-year-old lined up 2nd on the grid for the final.

From the rolling start, Kieran lost a place as he was on the wrong side for the first corner but quickly made the place back up and pushed away from the pack with the 1st place driver creating a safe gap. Leaving it to the last lap to challenge for the lead Kieran was unable to find a gap and finished 2nd by 0.130s. Kieran said, “I’m really pleased with the weekend’s result and being only our second outing on our new kart I’m delighted at how we have performed with limited test time being on the pace straight out of the box.”

Kieran is looking forward to the coming season and will shortly be starting a clubman championship where he will compete across the UK alongside 23 other competitors.

Kieran would like to thank all his supporters on Facebook and Twitter for the words of encouragement, his family, Andrew of Clan racing for the vital race support and mentoring and Building Craftsmen Dumfries for their support.
