Castle Douglas Judo Club and Dumfries Judo Academy recently participated in a national fitness competition called Fighting Fit, organised by Scotland’s National Governing Body for judo, JudoScotland, in partnership with Fighting Films (the World’s leading supplier of judo clothing and accessories).

This was a new concept organised during the pandemic to allow judo players in Scotland to remain active when judo clubs are closed, and to help them to stay motivated with a competitive element. 8 exercises were selected by JudoScotland’s National High Performance coach along with their Strength and Conditioning coach to test and improve the physical aptitude’s required for judo.

There were 2 rounds, and judoka had to submit scores for the 8 exercises in both rounds to be eligible for 2 special lucky dip prizes.

Castle Douglas Judo Club and Dumfries Judo Academy organised online fitness sessions for our members based around this event to support them during lockdown, along with online judo sessions.

We had 18 players who participated in both rounds with some great results, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

We had a number of prize winners from the club:
