Solway Skaters perform well at Lumiere Cup

Solway Stars and Solway Eclipse  competed their first competition of the season the Lumiere Cup in Eindhoven on the weekend of the 14-15th December 2019.

Solway Stars have met required standard to move up a category level for this season. They are now at ISU junior’s category, which is a world level for teams consisting of skaters aged 13 – 18 years old. Six of other competing teams at this international competition were national junior champions during last season.

Solway Stars competed on both Friday and Saturday presenting 2 brand new routines against 12 other teams in the competitive Junior ISU category including teams from Finland, Russia, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Netherlands, Poland, France and Switzerland. This is a first time for many of our young Stars team competing on the Junior ISU ice and they scored a wonderful 88.11 points overall successfully called multiple elements throughout their routines across the 2 days.

Solway Eclipse took to the ice on Sunday presenting their brand-new routine in the Mixed Aged Category.  Eclipse also competed against teams from all over the World including Russia, Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands scoring an incredible 39.98 points. Again, this is the first time for many of our skaters competing on International ice and we couldn’t be prouder.

Stars and Eclipse, along with our club, coaches and families would like to send a very special thank you to the Holywood Trust who have helped fund this competition for both our teams.   Competing at International level would not be possible without the continued support of the Holywood Trust and all our sponsors.
