After months of careful planning and consultation, details have been unveiled for a new closed road rally in South West Scotland this summer.
Organised by Machars Car Club, the Coast 2 Coast Rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday 25th July.
The event will be based in Stranraer, and comprise around 52 stage miles on closed minor roads near the town.
Rally Manager Roy Campbell said “while a lot of work had been going on behind the scenes, they had not been in a position to announce the new event until they received a permit from Motorsport UK last week. As part of the process, an application has also been made to Dumfries and Galloway Council for a Motor Race Order (MRO).
“We’ve been working closely with local landowners, residents and community councils – as well as the Stranraer Development Trust”, said Mr Campbell: “We’d been studying the dates of existing events, and July looked to be a relatively quiet month. The Trust were also open to a July date for a unique and exciting venture that will bring visitors to the area as part of wider regeneration efforts for the town”.
Some more details of the barnd new Coast 2 Coast Rally were announced starting with an official launch at the Millenium Centre in Stranraer held on Monday 17th February, where a title sponsor was be unveiled.
