Sun Shines for Newton Stewart Tri Club Event

The sun shone for the autumn Aquathlon hosted by Newton Stewart Triathlon Club on Saturday.

Competitors came to the Merrick Pool from across the region to take part in the swimming and running event. Adults took part in both novice and sprint events, with the novice events attracting newcomers to triathlon trying a 250m swim followed by a 1.3km run.

Children’s events were split by age group, with categories starting as young as 8 and under.

Event organiser Lucy Gurling said “We are delighted with the support we got for the event from across Dumfries and Galloway. It is very family friendly and supportive, with everyone cheering everyone else on. Anyone interested in taking up triathlon can use our aquathlon as an opportunity to try out two of the disciplines combined; swimming and running.”
