5th Place for Stewartry at Pony Club Scottish Tetrathlon Championships

‘Stewartry Pony Club’ members attended ‘The Scottish Tetrathlon Championships’ on 14th and 15th October at ‘Kilgraston School’ and ‘Foresterseat Cross Country’ course in Perthshire.

A great weekend was had by all competitors in the various categories. In Open Girls Phoebe and Poppy Drysdale competed. Phoebe had an outstanding swim being placed 2nd and had a lovely clear cross country being placed 8th. Poppy had a good day coming 4th in swim and had a clear cross country finishing 5th overall. In Junior Girls Amelia Craig had a truly great weekend with an excellent run finishing 2nd and a good swim finishing 7th. Her cross country showed a good performance but with a technicality at the slip rail caused her to drop from second place to 3rd. In the ‘Minis’ Kristina Campbell represented ‘Stewartry Pony Club’ coming 5th in the shoot, 4th in the run and 6th in the swim. She had an excellent cross country round but due to high winds she had a few issues shutting the gate obstacle incurring a few penalties, thus finishing in 5th place overall. In the ‘Mini Mini Boys’ Oliver Campbell was 5th in the shoot, 3rd in the run and a 4th in the swim. He powered positively around the cross country but found it slightly challenging, lifting up 4th place overall.

For a bit of fun an adult class was held where some of the active parents took part. Pauline Drysdale bravely represented the Stewarty Branch single handed and partook in all four disciplines. She had a super swim and run followed by a brave cross country round to finish in 9th place. Sat nav was a slight issue on the cross country course and better bifocals are required for next year but good sportsmanship and fun was had!

The ‘Stewarty Pony Club Team’ were delighted to finish the event with a consolidated score ending up in 5th place overall in Scotland. The team would like to thank ‘Dodson & Horrell’ for the lovely prizes and all of the sponsors, organisers and volunteers who assisted in making the event happen.

The Winter Triathlon series has now started, the first one being held in Aberdeen on the 5th November where the club was represented by Poppy Drysdale. She was delighted to gain a second place in Biathlon in her section and a 4th in the Triathlon. The future dates are 3rd December in Grangemouth and then the 7th January in the Borders.
