16 take part in Galloway Branch of The Pony Club’s Dismounted Winter Camp

The Glen of Luce Hall was the venue for Galloway Branch of The Pony Club’s Dismounted Winter Camp over the weekend of the 9th and 10th February 2019.

16 young members left their ponies at home and came came to Auchenmalg for a theory based experience with instructors Ruth McGarry and Joss Drummond. They studied horse care, nutrition, tack, points of the horse, to mention a few topics Thank you to Jill and Cara Sloan for the use of their nearby stable and the lovely horse Ruby for some hands-on experience.

There was lots of non-horsey fun to be had in the form of a poster task, treasure hunt and lots of party games into the evening. The company had a sleepover in the hall with a super take away tea from The Cock Inn nearby.

Lessons began again the following morning before District Commissioner, Wendy Miller-Smith concluded the camp at lunchtime congratulating everyone on a good weekend of learning, fun and friendship.  It was a great pleasure to be welcoming quite a few new members to the club.  A huge thank you to everyone who helped with this, without the help of our enthusiastic parents this could not happen.

Everyone is looking forward to the lighter nights and better weather to get ponies going again with a busy schedule of rallies already planned for Spring.  Also there is a fundraising event planned which is a Curry & Quiz Night in The Creebridge Hotel on 29th March which is open to all.

This will be a general knowledge quiz so everyone very welcome.
