VICTORY FOR QUEEN OF THE SOUTH GIRLS U15 BLUES AGAINST ANNAN LADIES

Queen of the South Girls U15 blues took on Annan Ladies at the North West Community Campus on Monday evening.  Queens lined up in 4-4-2 formation, with Freya Brown playing as a striker alongside Rebecca McCubbin.  The game was fairly even in the early stages but with Queens having the better of the possession, creating a number of good chances, and the Queens central defence of Chloe Maxwell and Kayleigh Telfer mopped up everything that came near them.  It wasn’t until the 21st minute that Queens took the lead, Eve Jackson firing home a dipping free kick from 25 yards.  Queens continued to press with a number of good crosses from both wings causing Annan problems.  Cairn Houliston added a second after 34 minutes, and Freya added a third just before half time.

QUEENS GIRLS U15 BLUES WERE PRESENTED WITH A DOZEN NEW FOOTBALLS BY BARRON WRIGHT PARTNERSHIP, CONSULTING ENGINEERS, PRIOR TO THE GAME AGAINST ANNAN LADIES.  LEFT TO RIGHT: U15 BLUES’ COACHES MALCOLM CAIRNS, ROSS MEECHAN, MARK OVENS & ALASTAIR BARRON.

In the second half Queens continued to dictate the play with Freya grabbing her second and Queens’ fourth in the 48th minute with a tap in after good build up play.  Olivia Reynolds came close with a lofted chip following an excellent passing move down the right and Holly Ovens hit the post and then the bar as Queens piled on the pressure, but the Annan keeper was in good form and managed to block the shots raining in on goal.  Freya, revelling in her new role, was in the right place for another tap in to complete her hat trick in the 67th minute, and despite a number of near things, the game finished with the final score Queens 5 Annan 0.
