Queen Of The South Ladies & Girls FC Weekly Round-Up

Queens Ladies travelled to Glasgow on Saturday to face Harmony Row Ladies in a league match.  After a defeat by the same opponents in the League cup quarter final last weekend, Queens were keen to get back to winning ways.  They started well and with only 12 minutes gone Kirsty Macdonald opened the scoring with a cool accurate finish inside the box.  Harmony Row were stung into action and they equalised and then went ahead.  Queens got back on level terms just before half time when Holly ovens beat the offside trap to allow her to run in on goal and beat the keeper.

The second half saw Queens continue to play well but without being able to get the crucial third goal, and it was Harmony Row who got their noses in front again with an effort from long range, and with Queens trying to push forward to grab another equaliser, Harmony Row grabbed a fourth goal to seal the game.  Final score 4-2 to Harmony Row

Queens Girls Under 16s were the hosts to Dunbar United Colts in the third round of the Scottish Womens Football Youth Challenge Cup at the North West Community Campus on a warm Saturday afternoon yesterday. Queens ran out comfortable winners in the end, with a very good squad performance, delighting the home support. At the end of the match both teams and supporters were treated to a fantastic spread of refreshments before heading home. Queens can now look forward to another match in the last 16 of the cup later in the year. Good luck to Dunbar United Colts for the remainder of their season.
A special thanks to our parents, who put on a fantastic spread of food and drink for after the game. Also a big thank you to George Trudt who captured some wonderful action shots during the game.
