Queens Ladies Take Sweeping Victory In Local Derby

Queen of the South Ladies headed way out west on Sunday for a league game against Millennium Ladies at Stranraer.  Queens were in command right from kick off but it took until the 15th minute for them to break down the Millennium defence when Charlotte Smith scored with a header. It was a further 18 minutes before Queens scored again but then they couldn’t stop scoring, with 6 goals coming in the space of 12 minutes, striker Lois Geddes getting a 4 minute hat trick with goals in the 33rd, 35th and 36th minutes, Megan Masterton adding a further 2 in the 37th & 44th minutes, and Geddes getting her 4th and Queens’ 7th on the stroke of half time.

Queens continued in the same vein in the second half with Megan Masterton (50, 60) and Eve Jackson (63, 74) scoring, before Millennium managed a consolation goal in the 76th minute.  Queens weren’t taking any chances of a Millennium comeback and further goals from Masterton (78), Holly Ovens (81, 84) and Masterton again (90, completing her double hat-trick) completed the scoring.  FT Millennium 1 Queens 15, and Queens remain at the top of the league.

Queens have no league fixture next week and so an international friendly has been arranged against Draycott Victoria Ladies from the Derbyshire League.
