Queens Ladies Win First League Game Of 2023 Against Clark Drive

Queens hosted Clark Drive Girls in their first home league game of the season, and they continued where they had left off in their first match, taking the lead after only two minutes and killing the game off by the 7th minute when they went 4-0 up.

To their credit, Clark Drive tried to play football, but Queens’ ability and pace were simply too much for them, and by half time Queens had reached double figures.  Queens were able to freshen up the team in the second half with some of the younger players coming on, and Clark Drive had no answer to Queens incessant attacking although they tried to compete right up to the final whistle.

Final score Queens 17  Clark Drive 0.

Scorers for Queens were  Holly Ovens (2, 3, 7, 46), Megan Hodgson (6, 22, 24), Charlotte Smith (26), Alexandra Connon (28), Freya Brown (41), Siobhan Hodgson (50), Georgia Wilson (61, 69, 84), Ellis McMillan (64), Abbie Dunlop (82).

At the awards night held on Saturday evening, the awards to the Ladies team were:  Coaches’ Player of the Year: Charlotte Smith; Players’ Player of the Year: Charlotte Smith; Young Player of the Year: Abbie Dunlop; Top Goalscorer: Holly Ovens.

This Sunday, Queens travel to Ayr to take on Ayr United Ladies in what is certain to be a tough fixture.  Kick off time to be confirmed.
