Bishopton/Garnock Under 16’s – 7  Stewartry 16’s – 50

Having played Bishopton/Garnock at home earlier in the season and getting run fairly close, Stewartry knew they were in for a tough game with the home team looking to cause an upset.  The final score does not reflect the game in any way as Bishopton/Garnock’s much larger team battling right to the end.

The home team had the upper hand in most of the scrums but Stewartry Scrum Half Archie Nicholson got the ball away very quickly to the strong running Stewartry back who’s superior handling proved them to be far too elusive for the home team.  That said, the Stewartry forwards rucking was much improved with Casey Broomhall improving in every game and winning back  lots of loose ball on the ground.

Great to see David Martin back, and he scored a great try from close range, outwitting the home pack.  Andy Budde playing at Hooker scored the try of the match following a great break out by Lochlann Spence from halfway, getting caught on the line and Budde who had ran the length of the field in support taking the ball at pace and scoring between the posts.  Budde scored another before the game ended at 7-50, but completed his hat trick in the development period.

Man of the match without doubt was the ever improving Alistair Wood who showed great pace and handling and his hard tackling was text book.  Best forward of the day was again Tom Allan who showed great speed and strength, continuing to run hard even whilst caught.

All in all another good day at the office, leaving the blacks top of the Glasgow South League going into a two week break for the October School holidays.
