Stewartry Performance was Robust at Scotland West Youth Under 18 Shield Final

A superb and highly entertaining game of cup rugby from two very robust Under 18’s teams.  Half time was 10-7 to Whitecraigs with Stewartry’s try coming from a great passage of forward play and drive through by Kieren McGuire (converted by Archie Picken).

Whitecraigs RFC – 29

Stewartry RFC -14

The home team scored two early second half tries to stretch the lead to 22-7.  Stewartry fought back to take the score to 22-14 with a great try by Frazer Potts (converted by Archie Picken) after a long period of possession from Stewartry.

Whitecraigs hit back with a final try in injury time in the very last play of the game.

All credit to a young tough tackling Stewartry team of mostly age 16-17 with a squad of only 17 players v a big Whitecraigs squad of 22 and mainly aged 17 & 18.  The Stewartry squad also missing key members, Captain Alasdair Hannay and Number 10 Lochlann Spence who are both injured.

A good end to a tremendous season with high hopes for 2018-2019.

WELL DONE THE MIGHTY BLACKS!!!!

A big well done to injured Captain Alasdair Hannay who was voted players player of the year by his team mates……..very, very well deserved.
