Scottish Rally Gearing Up To Start Date

The Scottish Rally, Scotland’s oldest rally, returns to Dumfries and Galloway on Saturday 18 May.

The 74th edition of the event will once again be based in and around Moffat and the forests of Ae and Eskdalemuir.

Local interest is high, with many Dumfries and Galloway teams participating in the two and four-wheel drive categories, to compete in the Scottish Rally Championship series. David Bogie, seeking to win for a record sixth time, to equal the number of victories recorded by the legendary Roger Clark, is a confirmed starter.

Councillor Adam Wilson, the Council’s Events Champion said;

“The stage is set for another enthralling Scottish Rally. Dumfries and Galloway has a wonderful rallying and motorsports heritage and formidable drivers who have experienced success in recent times. We value our partnership with RSAC Motorsport who plan and deliver this great event, and the community groups and businesses in Moffat who have got right behind it this year to make it a special day out for everyone.”

Clerk of the Course Jonathan Lord said;

“We are delighted to be returning to Dumfries and Galloway for the 23rd RSAC Scottish Rally to be based in the region. The welcome we receive each year from Dumfries and Galloway Council, and from the local community in Moffat, is outstanding, and I’d like to thank everyone for supporting this major event. We look forward to some hard-fought competition on the special stages. If you’re going out to spectate, have a great day – but please read the safety instructions online and in the programme, listen to the marshals, and make sure you abide by the road traffic laws. If you’d like to help as a marshal and get even closer to the action, we’d be pleased to hear from you. Newcomers are welcome and are paired with more experienced marshals.”

Rally organisers are organising a full day’s entertainment in Moffat, to create a jam-packed day out for motorsports fans and families. The Rally website is the best place to go to for full details of the spectator areas in the forests, which is where the most spectacular action will take place – www.scottishrally.co.uk
