Sirens Remain Fourth in Premier League

Sunday saw another tough fixture for the Stewartry Sirens as they continue their first season in the BT Women’s Premier League. They were up against RHC Cougars, who are currently sitting one place above the Sirens at third in the Premier League table.

It was a scrappy game from both teams right from the first whistle, but some solid defence and big tackles from the Sirens meant that the first score from RHC didn’t come easily.

Wingers Clare Steele and Donna Burnett, who both made their debut for the Sirens this season, both put in impressive performances throughout the game, making some exciting breaks down each wing.

The second half saw the Sirens step up in defence with some precision tackling from the likes of Clare Dooley slowing the Cougars down.

Unfortunately, the Sirens were unable to match the ferocious pace of the Cougars, and the final score was Sirens 0 – 56 RHC Cougars. Despite the scoreline, it was another good team performance from the Stewartry, who continue to improve as they take one some of the top teams in the country.
