LOCAL ATHLETES GET SET FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD SUMMER GAMES

DUMFRIES and Galloway Athletes and Coaches are making last minute preparations to depart for the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi in early March as part of the Special Olympics Great Britain Team. 

The 2 Athletes chosen to compete for Great Britain are Tammara McIlwean from Annan who is competing in Athletics in the shot put and 400m walk events and Zoe Irving from Langholm who will be competing in Bocce, in the singles and mixed double competitions.

The coaches are Andrea Manson who is the Assistant Head of Delegation for the GB team, Karen Robertson, Head Coach for Athletics, Ling Mann, Head Coach for Bocce and Sandra Proudfoot, Lead Safeguarding & Welfare Officer.

This is the first time any athletes or coaches from Dumfries & Galloway have been chosen to be part of the GB World Games team and they are all immensely proud to be representing their country and looking forward to the fantastic experience.
