The finale of the Annandale and Eskdale Schools Super 4s cross country league took place in Lockerbie following events in Moffat and Annan.
The Super 4s which, are part of the PEPAS primary schools sporting calendar, are designed to promote cross country running to primary 5-7 children with the emphasis on encouraging runners of all abilities, whether to increase fitness levels, improve past performances or quite simply for enjoyment.
The events, sponsored by Magnox Limited, also provided a pathway for children to compete in readiness for the Annandale and Eskdale Primary Schools Cross Country Championships and the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships.
After the final race in Lockerbie presentations to the winners in each category were made:

The overall winners were Cammy Bryson and Nicole Ritchie, both Primary 7, from Newington Primary School.
Chair of Children, Young People and Lifelong Learning committee, Councillor Jeff Leaver, said: “Congratulations to all the children who have been competing during the winter months. It is excellent to see numbers of participants growing each year and more young children engaging in the event.”
Vice Chair, Councillor Ros Surtees, said: “There has been a number of events in recent weeks and months in Annandale and Eskdale that have seen record numbers of individual and school entries in all events. These events are supported by local sports clubs and it is evident the service is valued by schools, clubs and the community.”
John Grierson, Site Closure Director at Chapelcross, on behalf of Magnox Limited, said: “Yet again, another excellent event with so many children given the opportunity to participate, compete and develop. Thist all bodes very well for the future. It’s great to recognise that our support could be developing future sporting champions and equally as important, children enjoying the benefits of being physically active.”
