WYLIE COLLECTS CHAMPIONSHIP SILVERWARE IN LONDON

Scotland’s rising GT sportscar dedicates title success to his parents

Ross Wylie was presented with the Avon Tyres British GT4 Championship trophy in London last Friday (28 Nov).

The 23-year-old from Thornhill near Dumfries along with co-driver Jake Giddings collected the silverware at a prize-giving ceremony at The Montcalm at The Brewery attended by over 400 guests.

Wylie enjoyed a phenomenally successful maiden BGT season scoring three wins, three seconds and three fourth place finishes in a Beechdean Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage to earn himself and Giddings the prestigious British title.

WylieGiddings-02“If winning the British title over two months ago hadn’t sunk in, it certainly has now after last Friday’s presentations that were attended by GT ‘star’ drivers from throughout Europe,” remarked Wylie.

“The event honoured not only British championship winners but also those from the Blancpain series making it an extra special gala night.”

In only his third full season of car racing Ross, who is a British Racing Drivers’ Club  “Rising Star”, is already considered one of the most exciting racing talents to come out of Scotland in recent years.

Ross continued: “I’ve learned a lot in my first year of GT racing and to actually claim the GT4 championship title was the icing on the cake. I’m now working flat out on graduating in to the GT3 category for 2015 so as to continue the momentum in my career.

“I’ve a number of very good opportunities on the table that I’m currently carefully considering. My aim is to get everything sorted before Christmas. My career would not have been possible without the huge support from my parents and I’d like to dedicate this latest success to them.”

Wylie attends the Scottish Motor Racing Club’s Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel, Edinburgh, on Saturday (6 Dec), the Autosport Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Sunday (7 Dec) then a BRDC annual lunch in London on Monday (8 Dec).
