Advance Warning Of Vegetation Management On The A75

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are carrying out essential vegetation management on the A75 between Castle Douglas and Dumfries from Monday 27th September until Friday 11th November 2021.

Work will be split into two phases:

  • From Monday 27th September until Friday 5th November, day shifts will take place from Allanton Roundabout Castle Douglas to Garroch Roundabout Dumfries between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm.

  • From Monday 18th October until Friday 29th October, night shifts will take place on the Dumfries bypass from Garroch Roundabout to Dancingknowe Roundabout between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

This scheme, with a value of £132,000, will benefit around 24,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the network, and preventing the obscuration of both direction and tourist signs.

The work will be carried out using progressive nearside lane closures, both eastbound and westbound. A temporary traffic light system will also be put in place for the duration of these works.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
