A Young Piano Wizard Comes To Dumfries & Galloway

Born in 2001 in London, in 2017 George Harliono became one of the youngest students ever to take up a four-year scholarship at the Royal College of Music.

You can hear George perform four concerts across D&G from the 26 – 29 of September.

In 2019 George was the only British pianist selected for the International Tchaikovsky Competition. A top prize-winner at the Grand Piano Competition in Moscow (2016), the Gina Bachauer (Utah 2016), Aarhus (Denmark 2015) and Dinu Lipatti (Bucharest 2013) Competitions, George has given concerts across Russia, the USA, Argentina, Scandinavia and Europe.

As a soloist he has appeared with the Moscow State, Mariinsky, Tatarstan National, Sochi Symphony and Tyumen Philharmonic Orchestras, the Orchestra Sinfónica Provincial de Santa Fe (Argentina), Carolina Philharmonic and the New Millennium Orchestra of Chicago. George has performed alongside Denis Matsuev and Lang Lang and worked with renowned conductors Valery Gergiev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Walter Hilgers and Anton Lubchenko.

This season George gives recitals in the Konzerthaus Vienna, Russian Academy of Arts (Moscow) and Duszniki Chopin Festival (Poland). He performs Beethoven with the Musica Viva Orchestra at the Zaryadye Hall in Moscow (conducted by Alexander Rudin), Tchaikovsky No.1 with the Jürmala Festival Orchestra in Latvia (conducted by Ainārs Rubiķis), and Rachmaninov No.2 with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ploiești in Romania.
