There Is Still Time Left To Enter Dumfries Half Marathon 2022

There are just a few days left to get your entry in for this year’s Dumfries Half Marathon.

More than 100 runners have already put their names down for the popular event’s return on Sunday, September 25.

This will be the 41st edition of the race, organised by Dumfries Running Club, and the first since 2019, with the closing date for entries on September 19.

The new race organiser Bob Quin is supported by club members, who are rightly proud of such a long spell of continuity for an event organised for runners of all standards by runners from an active and vibrant club that plays it part in the local community.

Once again the course starts and finishes at Dumfries and Galloway College on Bankend Road. While this route means that competitors will not actually pass through the centre of the town, they will head along Bankend Road and run past the Dovecotewell animal welfare centre, with its fabulous views of Criffel and on to Glencaple. The runners will then climb back to the Bankend war memorial and return back to the college on the same route as the first part of the race with the bonus of a downhill finish with large crowds to cheer on the competitors.

Competitors of all standards are invited to test themselves in this well marshalled and accurately measured race.

The cost is £18 for Scottish Athletics members and £20 for those who are not and entries are invited from runners of all standards. Thanks to the College, the event will start and finish at the same location with showers, changing facilities and refreshments available on site.
