Oliver Mundell Shows Commitment to Small Business

Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell recently attended the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) Business Breakfast held in the Doonhamer Bistro in Dumfries alongside Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson in order to meet with local small traders from within Dumfries town centre.

The purpose of the FSB meeting was a chance for owners of small businesses to network and to come together to raise any local or national concerns they had which might impact on their businesses moving forward in 2017.

Commenting after the event Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell said: “I was extremely pleased to have attended the meeting. It is so important, especially for smaller local businesses, to have a community support network as facilitated by the FSB and have an opportunity to regularly meet and be able to speak openly and freely about their individual business concerns.

“This was a helpful opportunity for me to hear in person the issues that have been the focal concerns of the heart of the community including council taxation, the effects of the upcoming Whitesands flood scheme and footfall in Dumfries town centre.

“While I am not able to solve all of these issues I am committed to helping small businesses as much as possible. It is imperative if we want to build a more prosperous town centre we must first provide support to the businesses that already exist and who are working so hard to improve the town.”
